It’s a good day when you can indulge on cheeseburgers, french fries and ice cream sandwiches. Being a nutrition student, I try to indulge in moderation, blah blah blah, but still, for all my health nuts, it’s OKAY to treat yourself one day a week! So in my case, I’m going big!
Tip Top Grill has been in the back of my mind since I moved to Birmingham. Today, I was finally able to experience the breathtaking views and unbelievably satisfying food. It’s almost in the direct opposite direction of the rest of the restaurants and entertainment in the Birmingham area, which is why this is such a unique spot! Located literally on the direct edge of the rolling hills of Bluff Park, Tip Top Grill is a dive with tons of character. Upon arrival, it is evident that this place has been here awhile, and the locals have all at least been here once!
Tip Top Grill is known for it’s killer breakfast, starting at 6:30 am, cheeseburgers, chili, hot dogs and they’re amazing fries. Today, we enjoyed the cheeseburger, BLT and crisp to perfection french fries. (I think they’re beer battered, which is really the best tasting thing ever). MOST IMPORTANTLY, we were completely captivated by the view of The Lord’s indescribable creation. Honestly, I can see this spot being awesome in the middle of a long day. It’s quiet, charming and refreshing. Totally worth the short drive and breath of fresh air.
Big Spoon Creamery was started by two veteran Bottega chefs, here in Birmingham. They are now married and operating Big Spoon Creamery, an artisan ice cream company. They use local ingredients to create seasonal flavors!
Later this afternoon……
I just couldn’t get enough of this incredible spot! I convinced my best friend Langley to chase down the Big Spoon Creamery cart with me! What a true bestie 🙂 Today, they were stationed in front of Tip Top Grill from 1-5. Langley ordered the Chocolate Cake Batter sandwich and I ordered the “After School Treat” – a marshmallow ice cream sandwiched between two macadamia nut and rice krisy cookies. Mmmmhmmmm. Y’all this is the best little treat. It’s $5 for a sandwich of pure deliciousness. Totally worth it!
