Post Office Pies

It’s been about a week since I’ve last posted, but I wanted to post a throwback Thursday post just because (even though today is Wednesday…whatever close enough). This summer was my first summer living in Birmingham. I was able to explore the amazing city I now call home, which included all the amazing restaurants now directly at my fingertips!

One day after work, I went to Post Office Pies with a sweet co-worker. She introduced me to the up-and-coming area of Birmingham known as Avondale. It’s absolutely full of character, including the eclectic Parkside Cafe, a beautiful church that meets in a reclaimed chapel called Redeemer and now a great new music venue called Saturn. Post Office Pies is set in a refurbished post office, hence the ever so clever name. Chef John Hall, a Birmingham native, built his culinary resume in New York City before returning home to open his pizza place.

The notable and unique thing about Post Office Pies is that it is located conveniently nextdoor to Avondale Brewing, one of my all time favorite Birmingham breweries. In addition to your personalized pie, you can order any of the Avondale beers! On this specific day, in the heart of summer, I ordered a peach brew alongside the Margherita pizza. To. Die. For. It was literally the most decadent pizza I’ve tasted. In fact, I don’t think I’ve had a better pizza experience since! You can practically taste the flame! Mmmm, Eat Bham Blog votes Post Office Pies as the number 1 pizza spot in Alabama! Trust my judgment. Do yourself a favor and dine family style in this DIVINE pizza cafe in the heart of Avondale!

xoxo & cheers,
